VAL INGRAM POSTS RE: PROMOTIONAL VISIT TO OXFORD - SATURDAY, 19TH NOVEMBER

News Feed

Apologies for the lack of updates, we have been beavering away fact finding, liaising with lots of people behind the scenes and updating our leaflets.

We are concerned over the news reported yesterday in the Oxford Mail and feel it may have misled and lulled people into a false sense of security.

Basically the OCCG are planning to embark on two sets of consultations the first will begin in January and will relate to Maternity and Acute Services connected with strokes etc.

This will then be followed post the County Council elections (convenient timing) in May with a further consultation over A&E and the Children's Ward.

Why is Maternity so vital to the functioning of the hospital...

Lots of people have asked this question and so maybe it would be helpful if I explained as I understand it to be.

Aside from the very long journey and all the things we have already discussed about the problems and dangers of reaching the JR whilst in labour, the risks to both mother and child can not be overstated. We have been receiving lots of information and concerns as a result of the temporary downgrade.

But as a by product of the loss of maternity comes the loss of the post of the 24hr on call in house consultant anaesthetist .

This post is vital for the possibility of an emergency C section at any time....

But interestingly this post also comes into play for both paediatrics and A&E .... who are dependent on this position

Remember at St Mary's Mr Brennan would not guarantee this position, despite me asking this question...

So Maternity is the king pin to the survival of other departments at the hospital and these proposals must be fought with all vigour to prevent the inevitable domino effect ......

We are just starting to ramp up a notch...

We need you to stick with us and help now by spreading the word far and wide. We will be heading for Oxford on the 19th Nov to increase awareness of the threat to the Horton.

Why Oxford? We have to let the public know that without the Horton being a fully functioning General hospital they will also be likely to suffer...

We need their support and we need your help now too, please.

Can you join us on our free coach, which we are providing to come to Oxford with us on the 19th Nov?

This will be a very respectful event....

We need to attend the HOSC meeting on the 17th November, again are you able to come?

Not able to do either of these two meetings?

You can then perhaps help by swelling the numbers on this page by simply adding Members on the top RH corner, that would be great if you can , we would love to get to 19,000 . This would really upset the TRust to see us continue to grow and rebel against their proposals x

We need lots and lots of support if we are to win the day, help us help you by playing your part and spreading the word..

More updates tomorrow.

Many thanks x
